Oh, you just knew this was gonna happen.

So first there was the Rainbow Creme Filling Oreo, which didn't even actually exist as "real" cookie.

The minute the news broke, the wing-nut contingent starting foaming at the mouth and fulminating about how Nabisco was "sticking their thumb in eye of American," and a few were complaining about appropriation because "The Rainbow is a Godly symbol given to us by God Almighty himself."

So naturally now: Oreo Pride: Rainbow-Stuffed Cookie Sparks Boycott

Hey, wing-nuts, good luck trying to boycott EVERY SINGLE Nabisco AND Kraft product.

Yeah. That's so bloody ridiculous it's not even funny anymore. I mean, what the hell?
I wouldn't want cookies that colourful because it's just looking to artificial, but aside from that I found the promo pretty cool.

The truly scary thing about these people is how many of them there are and how LOUD they can be and how much they resemble small infants throwing tantrums when they don't get their way.

Idiots. (The boycotters, obv, not Oreo).

I'm torn between thinking the photo is adorable, and feeling sick at the thought of actually eating it!
Jun. 26th, 2012 07:56 pm (UTC)
One is reminded of a quote from The Big Sleep: "Such a lot of guns around town and so few brains."

Amazing how they go nuts at the sight of a OBVIOUSLY NONEXISTENT COOKIE!
Jun. 26th, 2012 07:51 pm (UTC)
Did you see the poll on the bottom of the CBS article? The "Against It" votes edged ahead. I'm shocked that it's even close.
Jun. 26th, 2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
Were they against the (nonexistent) cookie or against the boycott?
The wing-nuts are like certain shippers in being very well organized to skew polls when they're so inclined.
Jun. 26th, 2012 07:57 pm (UTC)
They were against the image of the cookie. :(
Jun. 26th, 2012 07:58 pm (UTC)
JMFC! But like I said...remember how shippers can mess with fan polls...same tactics probably being used.
Jun. 26th, 2012 08:02 pm (UTC)
Agreed. Like the House/Cuddy shippers and the People's Choice Awards. But far less important.
Jun. 26th, 2012 08:05 pm (UTC)
The problem is perception. The shippers wing-nuts can then point to the skewed poll and say "See, even on MSM ABC polls, people are against this stuff." Vicious cycle ensues.

All I know is I have a beach bum weekend in a couple of weeks scheduled with my BFF Jenn and she was already lovingly referring to it as Eat-A-Thon/Oreo-A-Thon 2012. Now we're just extra excited to buy ALL the oreos. We're going to enjoy them immensely while we rock out to terrible music and play scrabble. ;-) MORE OREOS FOR US!!! *DANCES*
Jun. 26th, 2012 09:50 pm (UTC)
YAY! The only thing better than scarfing Oreos is scarfing Oreos as part of the good fight. Amen and hallelujah. Have some for me, since I'm unable to partake at this time.
Jun. 26th, 2012 09:21 pm (UTC)
The world is full of too many haters with way too much time and far too little brain. They are so ridiculous that it's ALMOST laughable. *sighs and shakes head while rolling eyes*
Jun. 26th, 2012 09:23 pm (UTC)
It is to laugh...unless you laugh too much and lose sight of how incredibly evil and potentially dangerous they are because the people they can influence with this bullshit.
Jun. 26th, 2012 11:11 pm (UTC)
True, that.
Jun. 26th, 2012 09:46 pm (UTC)
*shakes head* Wing-nuts indeed. Reminds me of the religious nut who went on and on and ON about the Teletubbies being TEH GAY.
Jun. 26th, 2012 09:49 pm (UTC)
That would be the late, unlamented Reverend (HAH!) Jerry Falwell. If there is something like justice and an afterlife, he is currently burning in a very hot hell for crimes against humanity.

Yes! I couldn't come up with his name....

ITA on the Hellfire. Loki approves! *points to icon*

I'm just wondering how do I dunk it in the milk. Do I break it apart or do I just get a mug this time?

Next, they're going to be boycotting rainbows in general. And Skittles for daring us to taste a rainbow.
Jun. 26th, 2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
I honestly want Nabisco to bring this thing out and for it to be a big hit with kids. That would be hilarious.
Jun. 26th, 2012 11:50 pm (UTC)
Of course they'll be a hit with kids. Kids love odd colored foods. Heck, remember all of the odd colored foods we ate as kids? Who didn't want rainbow colored food as a kid?
Jun. 26th, 2012 11:06 pm (UTC)
ROTFL. I thought the same thing about the milk; and then I read the Skittles comment. Awesome.
Jun. 26th, 2012 11:50 pm (UTC)
If you somehow get two cookies in at once, it would be a double rainbow all the way.
Jun. 26th, 2012 10:27 pm (UTC)
I'd heard this story but hadn't seen the pics, and now I'm sad to hear it was never a real cookie/biscuit :(
Jun. 26th, 2012 10:28 pm (UTC)
I keep thinking how fabulous it would be if Nabisco actually brought it out to make a statement against these bigots.
Jun. 26th, 2012 11:01 pm (UTC)
Now I'm seriously thinking about going out tomorrow and buying some oreos. i love oreos, but I love them even more now! :)
Jun. 26th, 2012 11:04 pm (UTC)
Go forth and consume!
Jun. 27th, 2012 05:20 am (UTC)
*beats head against desk*

Jun. 27th, 2012 06:32 am (UTC)
And it's only Tuesday!
Jun. 27th, 2012 03:29 pm (UTC)
DO NOT read the comments. They are so hateful I'm now thoroughly depressed.
Jun. 27th, 2012 04:07 pm (UTC)
Not even half as bad as what they spew in their own websites, which should tell you how bad that crap is. And people wonder why I'm freaking out so badly over the election and want to slap anybody who says "Romney wouldn't be so bad."
