My god, I love Great Danes. They're just traffic-stopping dogs, and so sweet.

That's what I really love, the "gentle giant" factor. The fact that they don't have to be the least bit aggressive, because, really, who's gonna mess with them?

There's a woman I saw today in my neighborhood, she has a harlequin and a blue/silver Dane, and I wanted to pull over and tell her what awesome dogs she had.

I worked with a Dane that had "mantle" coloring" (like a Boston Terrier), teaching him to walk slowly with the baby stroller so Mom could walk them both, and no less than three cars stopped to tell us what a gorgeous dog Zion was.

If only they lived just a little longer.

Awwww! I know I could never have enough space or money or food to own a Dane, but damn they are so awesome.

This made me smile so much! Such a young sleepy mush head puppy! :)

I love my Dane so much... and she sleeps the same way. She's an old, old lady and I treasure every day!

I am muchly jealous of you and your lovely Dane. I really do feel guilty about the fact that I always stop in at Veo Optic to see the dogs, knowing I'm probably NEVER going to buy anything there.

Great Danes are such wonderful big dorks! Atlas is doing a great job of demonstrating the "badly folded umbrella" position :D

*giggle* They really are amazingly goofy sometimes. If I ever win the lottery/write a best-seller/steal the crown jewels, and could afford to take care of one, a Dane would certainly be in the running for dog of my dreams.

Your icon has a BIG DOGGIE NOSE.

You'll need a bigger apartment. And sofa. And bed, and chairs, and...

I don't think I'd ever be comfortable having any dog in an apartment, much less a Great Dane. Need to have BIG HOUSE with yard.

That puppy was the one Joe Biden bought for his daughters in December 2008, so it's now nearly 4 years old and probably has grown into its own schnozzola.

Well, in New York, some people manage with long walks and doggie parks. They also make use of professional dog walkers and doggie day care, but what fun is that?

I guess you could keep a small dog in your apartment. But it'd have to be alone for long periods. And most small dogs are neurotic enough as it is, and don't handle that well. AT ALL.

The Bidens' dog is probably a big happy German Shepherd.

Anyway, no matter how big a house you get, your furniture will never be big enough to share comfortably with a Great Dane. Not that it won't insist on trying. Marmaduke is quite accurate on that subject.

He's adorable. One of my neighbours had a huge one - I'm 5'2" and he was taller than my waist - but he was so gentle. He used to love pets. He's still with us - they just moved. I miss him :)

So sweet! I'm really impressed with the way Atlas has touched a nerve. More than a lot of dogs I've posted lately. There's an untapped well of Great Dane love out there...maybe because of Marmaduke and Scooby Doo.

Such a sweetie! Another dream dog I will never have.
