Robert Sean Leonard and Gloria Reuben to Join TNT's Falling Skies

Broadway star Robert Sean Leonard and stage veteran Gloria Reuben are to have recurring roles on the cast of TNT's sci-fi drama Falling Skies, according to Deadline.com.

Both actors are signed on for five-episode arcs. Leonard will play Roger Kadar, PhD, an obsessive but gifted scientist, while Reuben will play Marina Perlata, an aide to Wyle's Tom Mason.

Robert Sean Leonard was most recently seen on Broadway in Born Yesterday. Additional Broadway credits include The Violet Hour, Long Day's Journey Into Night, The Invention of Love, for which he won a Tony, and many more. His extensive film history includes Dead Poets Society, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Age of Innocence. From 2004 to its recent final season, Leonard played the role of Dr. James Wilson on the Fox drama House.

Reuben's stage credits include the Public Theater's production of Stuff Happens. She is best known for her work on NBC's ER.

Wow, what happened to more theatre? Or was the money just too tempting again? Eh, I'll probably watch it for the character...sounds like him XD

I think part of the problem is that there's no "middle ground" in the NY Theater anymore and "regional theater" is practically a dirty word here. So you're either in a basement doing some avante-garde thing for practically no money OR you're in a block-buster with BIG NAMES selling tickets for outrageous sums. Maybe there's not a blockbuster with his name on it right now and he can't really do the kind of basement thing that he might have his heart set on, because there's Gaby and the Bambino to take care of.

Just a theory actually.

I'm actually more excited about Gloria Reuben. She's been excellent in everything I've seen.

One of the nice things about the proliferation of networks is the opportunity for actors and actresses who might not have gotten onto the "big three" to get interesting work on shows like this.

It'll be nice to see what he can do with a different kind of character and maybe some writers who don't feel the need to derail their own strengths.
