More on Barrowman in "Arrow"

I'm somewhat amused about how long they're dragging out this WHO IS HE PLAYING? thing. Since I'm not into comics and have no investment beyond "BARROWMAN!" I honestly couldn't give a fig about WHO. I sat through all his Desperate Housewives eps, with pretty much no clue about anything that was going on.

'Arrow' First Look: Who Is John Barrowman Playing? (Exclusive)

I did manage to miss the first episode---need to program TIVO right now---so if anyone knows where or how I could get a link, please let me know...PM or email if necessary.

I caught chunks of "Arrow" before "Supernatural" and it looks pretty bad. But that's just me, I tend to watch very little television. Just obsess over one or two programs at a time.

I'm not hoping for much, just a fresh Barrowmania fix.

I'm the same as you. I watched that one series of desperate housewives purely because he was in it. I had no clue (and very little interest) as to what was going on.
Might have to give this new series a go though I'm not expecting much from it.

I hope John appreciates the things we do for him. (You know, going to Birmingham in January.) I think even though this isn't my kind of show, it might be a good role for John, in terms of playing to his personal charisma.

I watched the first episode of Arrow and enjoyed it very much. Mind you I only watched it because JB will be in it and I wanted to understand the series but I am quite a fan of this sort of thing anyway. The main actor is quite presentable and there's some interesting stuff with his family.

Good to know. I'd really LOVE for John to be part of something that's more US-based (I know they film in Canada) and that catches on here, rather than coming in for a small arc toward the end like the DH gig. I still think he has the potential to be a big star here, but the window is starting to close.

I haven't watched the ep yet, but it's up on Hulu.

I couldn't even watch Desperate Housewives. I watched the bits with just him in it that some kind soul edited together and posted.

Tis one of the wonders! Thanks for the DW info. That may be the way to go with this one, so I can keep the eps on the laptop rather than explaining to hubby why I'm taking up Tivo space with something so ridiculous.

I have a number of various places I can find current things so if you're ever looking for something shoot me a PM and I *might* be able to help. (although that comm has a LOT and is kept pretty current)

eta- I'm going to delete that previous comment linking to the comm, it's not supposed to be advertised in non-locked posts.

I liked it but I went in blind - I know nothing about comic canon and I'm fine with that. It held my attention through the entire thing - which is a feat these days - and the eye candy is pretty. And with John on it it'll get even prettier! For me it's going to be fluff TV - It'll be fun to watch, but I don't plan on getting too invested in it.

I seriously loved the pilot. It was unexpectedly strong and I don't know anything about this comic either. This show may become the best show that CW ever made.

Heh, I'm the same - absolutely *no* knowledge of any of the canon!
With Desperate Housewives, I had at least watched the first couple of seasons of that, so I did have some idea of what was going on. Quite enjoyed it too, even it is completely whacky!

No idea what to expect from Arrow, but JB looks gorgeous in those new promo pics so I expect it'll be worth it, whatever! :-)

Watched the first couple of episodes. It's Ok, not really my thing, but for JB I'll keep watching for now.

Definitely not my kind of thing. Oh, John, the things I watch for you.

I'm watching it for Barrowman, but found that I actually like it!

Stephen Amell is so nice on Twitter, too. I want his show to be successful for him and for Barrowman. :D

I'm having real issues with the violence and the vigilantism. I feel bad for random mooks getting violently offed just because they made bad career choices Amell's depiction of whiney manpain isn't working for me, and I'm rooting for all the people I'm supposed to dislike.

OH JOHN, the things I watch for you. I'm really hoping he will walk in with Jack-style charisma and blow this thing wide open with a single smile.

Yeah, though it's kind of 99%-ish and F-the-MAN.

Happy birthday and hope you feel better too, btw!
