SHUT THE FUCK UP, OLIVER! NOBODY CARES!
Oh, John, how right you were!
The saga: Anticipation, disappointment, followed by loathing vs Barrowmania. TL:DR-I spent the first season stuck between the rock of despising every single thing about the show, except Barrowman, with the white hot hate of a thousand burning suns and Barrow-stanning to a degree that seems almost bizarre eight years after Captain Jack's pearly whites and gorgeous arse made their first Doctor Who appearance. And yet...

Arrow' execs on John Barrowman role: 'Fans will be excited'

'Arrow' First Look: Who Is John Barrowman Playing? (Exclusive)
Excerpts from my LJ:
First episode of Arrow was pretty MEH! I was amused to catch a Who-connection in the first five minutes. Colin Salmon who plays Walter Steele was Dr. Moon in Forest of the Dead and Silence in the Library. Also a million other things, but since I'm only watching for Barrowman, it amused me to see another Who alum so quickly. I'll tell you one thing. When John does show up, he is going to out-charisma the putative lead right off the screen.

In other television news, I'm about three episodes behind on Arrow, but I've finally seen John Barrowman's first scene. Damn, the boy still looks good. Like The Empty Child good. THAT GOOD! Old school Barrowman good. I let out such a squeeee! The episode itself was also a mild improvement on the rubbish that has gone before, as the plot develops a bit and the lead behaves like a slightly less self-righteous jerk. (Although I still think he's a self-righteous jerk, at least people are now calling him on it.)
I'm hoping the Barrowman character will kick the lead's ass, but being the lead and therefore the alleged "hero" that is unlikely. But whatever John is doing, he'll look gorgeous doing it.

Other goals are finishing up the first season of Arrow before the new one starts in a few weeks and also finishing the first season of the Wire and it would be hard to pick two shows farther apart from each other on the spectrum of any metric of quality whatsoever, except my desire to shag both Malcolm Merlyn and Jimmy McNulty and the various reasons why either one would be a terrible idea.

Which should have been the bitter end but wasn't. Because it's that kind of a show and it's Barrowman after all. But I don't know if I can face anymore. Even for John. Being gorgeous. And a Magnificent Bastard.
I don't know if I can take more island crap. More self-righteous bullshit. More of Felicity thinking she's in any way amusing. More of Botox Queen Cassidy. The problem is that I think I've gotten something like OCD to just watch the Malcolm bits. Which seem even fewer than the first time around. Sigh! I honestly don't know, but I'm leaning against. The Barrowmania is still strong, but there's also self-preservation. I don't know if this will please or disappoint the contingent that has been hate-watching my hate-watching.
Seriously though, possibly the worst show ever, and certainly the worst one I've ever watched for a single performer. At least Broken Badges only lasted four episodes.
