50 pounds


On June 7, 2013, I came out of denial and forced myself to get on a scale. On that date I weighed 191 1/2. Today, the Evil Scale God pronounced that I am 141. I'm wearing around my waist an odd item called a belt which I had formerly not needed or could not find one that actually fit and accomplished what was necessary.

There is still a VERY LONG WAY to go, and given that I ran/walked/ran 7 miles on Saturday and then rode the bike 35 miles on Monday, just to knock the last two off, I don't even know if this will immediately hold.

There is definite progress on the night-eating front, and the next post will (I think) be about the uses of friends in the process which has also been an evolution from "I'll go it alone; that's how it must be" to "You gotta have FRIIIIEEEENDS!" OR I can do a breakdown on the handful of pills, supplements and vitamins that I down every day to aid and abet. Which I suppose are my friends as well. Especially my friendly Ibuprofen.

But anyway, for the time being----50 Pounds.

Wow, that's so awesome! Congratulations! I had no idea you'd lost that much. Or had that much to lose.

Thanks! It's scary how fast I packed a lot of that on during the early part of 2013, when I was drowning in work-pain over the old new boss and some other things. I still really do have a ways to go, so this isn't a victory lap. It's just a chance to stop and admire one view on the road.

I need to do something. But I'm fighting my broken system, insulin, and fibro issues. *sigh*

I know that fibro means massive amounts of pain. It's not optimal, but I've basically Ibuprofened and sometimes something stronger in the name of moving over not moving.

Is there any kind of exercise you can do without triggering?

I'm assuming the insulin means you're already off sugar? If not, I know it's hard, but as you know, I think the stuff is poison and detox is the best thing you can do for yourself.

I'm off adding any sugar, but not off it entirely IN things. I just carb count. I've been ON insulin since day one of diagnosis, since what I have is adult onset type 1 due to some (unknown) auto-immune thing. (hence the joint/muscle issues, too.) I know it's not lupus! (as House would confirm)

I can't detox from carbs completely lest I crash.

The other thing is eating so I get enough nutrients without the colon. Which sometimes directly contradicts the diabetes eating plan or vice versa.

Supplements are my friend.

I have to be really careful w/ the nsaids & others. Bleeding. :/

And yeah, I work w/ my doc. And "listen" to my body.

Thanks! I thought that extra pound to 141 might take an extra week, just to fuck with me. This is very much NOT the end of the road. It's the beginning of a harder one. Like L'Alpe d'Huez hard.

Congratulations! That is incredible! How tall are you? 141 might be a reasonable weight. On the other hand, only you know what you want!

Without being too provocative, let's just say you haven't seen me naked. As I mentioned, I'm really obsessed with the pooch and some other places where my adipose has made a very comfortable home for itself and I'm determined to evict it.

Thanks sweetie! And in an unrelated topic....was it you and I who discussed that you might look at a Who-verse Post-Miracle Day epic I had in the works in a beta type capacity? I am actually still working on that although pace makes snail-like seem like the speed of sound. Just wanted to verify you were still up for it if I ever get enough on paper to have it eyeballed.

It's a good object lesson. Weight loss is just weight loss. It doesn't magically fix anything else. I still have the same lousy job and have to deal with the same shit. In fact, now I have to do it without numbing myself with comfort food, which kind of sucks.
