RIP Eli Wallach

Eli Wallach, Multifaceted Actor, Dies at 98

One of the all-time greats. For me, his best role will always be Calvera in The Magnificent Seven and he was still kicking ass and stealing scenes the last time I saw him in The Ghost Writer.

Bless him. One of my all time favorite character actors/villains... and my dad's too.

And by all accounts a truly lovely man.

Yes! It made me an even more loyal fan.

Three degrees of separation: I was just reading the article. Didn't know A.O. Scott was related to Mr. Wallach. He's the cousin of a close friend.

Ohhhhh. Sigh.

Funny enough, the role that comes to mind is from the film Circle of Iron. He played a man in a tub of oil. (That's less weird than it sounds.)

RIP, another classic lost. He's one of those actors I've seen here and there but never quite registered, except in The Magnificent Seven.
