RIP David Bowie

David Bowie Dies at 69; He Transcended Music, Art and Fashion

Where to start? Where to end?

How do you even pick ONE picture?

I found out in Yoga class today. My Teacher talked about how Bowie was always himself, even if that self was always changing, as she encouraged us to be true to ourselves in our practice.

As with all the great gurus, he's not truly gone; he's just left his physical body.

The first Bowie song I remember hearing, long before I knew exactly who he was.

One of my favorite performances. From the Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert

Thank you for everything, Mr. Bowie. (Maybe he's hanging out somewhere with Sam and Gene.)

I like to think he, Lou, Mick Ronson and Freddie are jamming right now. What can you say? So unexpected. I'm glad he got to go like Freddie and Lou, without the press speculating for months, but I'm sad he's gone. I don't have more words. What can you say.

Thank you is appropriate.

And just for fun...check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPlN8RBP-Ws

Absolutely surreal in terms of the how the medley is structured, but delightful in how much Bowie seems to be enjoying himself...bonus points for Cher's wig.

Of course! It's hard to fathom, so close after his birthday and with everybody appreciating the new album. If one ever has to exit this world, he seems to have managed it extraordinarily well.

Like so many people have said, the stars look very different today, even though I have no fandom claims here. But it's surprising how his music has been part of everywhere important to me - in space, and at London 2012 in particular.

It's Stargazing Live tonight and I'm trying to remember if Chris Hadfield is back on it again. If he is, I'm hoping for a musical tribute end so I hope he's brought his guitar.

It would certainly be a lovely tribute. I'm sure I'll be hearing plenty of the man's words and music at the Mint this week.

Alas no Chris Hadfield in last night's show, he'll be on the extra edition we're getting on Friday for Tim Peake's EVA. But they did play out with Starman instead of the usual theme music.
