Why it's a Costume: This is not what I normally write. At all. In fact, it's earned the nickname of the Soul-sucking fic of Doom. While I have no issues with RPS in general, I do have a problem with RPS involving John Barrowman. This was extremely difficult for me to write, but I've done it. The outcome is very dark and angsty.

Also, my fic tends to take ages for me to write as I'm a pedantic, perfectionist pain-in-the-arse. So bring that together into an angsty het-gen fic that I bashed out in less than an hour and you've got pretty much a unique combination for me. Oh, and I hate and detest this pairing with a vile seething passion.

Why it's a costume: This is a costume because this is my big OTP and I've written them with an unhappy ending for the first - and probably only - time ever. I've always written them with a happy ending, no matter what trials I put them through before they get there. It hurt to do this to them, but I'm glad I was able to do a good job on it.

Why it's a costume: First off the style. It’s done in second person (one I wouldn’t normally touch with a barge pole) and is far more internal than I’d usually go for – it’s got no dialog which is a first for me. My characterisation has also shifted slightly, and I add the implication that the pairing might have been one sided to start with. All of which is out of the norm for me.
