This wasn’t the change he’d been expecting, Jack thought, wandering through yet another wasteland that had been a city. The world he’d been protecting was now a graveyard and the sight of a discarded keyboard on a fragment of pavement was as devastating as the memory of Steven’s last screams.
The Doctor might not forgive Jack for letting it happen, anymore than Jack was going to forgive himself for leaving Gwen behind to try and fix it. If anyone could do it, she could.
