"The Perils of Honesty" TW100 Drabble Jack/Gwen Post-CoE

Title: The Perils of Honesty
Fandom: Torchwood
Pairing: Jack/Gwen (reference to Jack/Ianto)
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 100
Notes: Written for TW100 challenge #168 "Missing Scene". Goes with Revenge Scheme. Unbeta'ed
Warnings: Salt in the wound, bastard!Jack.
Summary: The reveal.

Jack returned to earth, determined to find Gwen and get it right this time, with no lies between them.

The first morning, she brought him coffee, obviously leery of painful memories.

“His coffee wasn’t that great,” he said bluntly.

The shock on Gwen’s face reminded Jack of just how well he’d sold the illusion of something that never existed.

“Look, Ianto needed to feel special and I needed a loyal soldier. Mediocre coffee was a small price to pay.”

Gwen’s look of horror told him truth had been a lousy idea, which was too bad.

He really liked her coffee.
