Day 11 — A Deceased person you wish you could talk to
I still miss you.
There’s times where something happens in politics or just in current events that it would be fun to share with you. Sometimes I even think you’d have liked being on LJ or even Facebook. Your habit of sending clippings you found amusing would be perfect for that, and you could save a lot of postage.
I celebrated my 20th anniversary a few weeks ago. Remember when you tried to discourage hubby from marrying me because I was too much of a “free spirit?” Somehow we managed to stay together anyway.
I wish you could have hung around long enough to see the 2008 election. You would love Barack Obama, although like me you’d have had to get over the Hillary thing first.
You always liked Keith Olbermann, going back to the ESPN and BIG SHOW days and I think you'd have adored Rachel Maddow.
Unfortunately, it looks like we’re going to have a rough mid-term and I’m really going to miss you on election night. In 1988 as George HW Bush (who now seems like a gem compared to his spawn) beat Michael Dukakis, I called you, crying, from that miserable studio I was sharing with Joy and her cigarettes and her cat. And you talked me down and said what you always said and what I really wish you’d be there to say to me if these disgusting freaks actually manage to take the House and or the Senate:
“This too shall pass. “
