It was a very different war this time around. Jack knew he had to avoid London, but the Germans were kind enough to provide Cardiff with its very own Blitz.
Torchwood had seconded him to the military, who’d sent him back to Cardiff with a medal and a strong warning to stay far away from the front.
He spent the nights sheltering with comely spotters or entertaining lonely soldiers in the darker corners of the Officer’s club. The relative calm of the days allowed for long walks and proper afternoon tea with Estelle.
Now all he needed was the Doctor.
