I finished the 10-K in about 1:39 including a bathroom stop. I'm not sure if this a PR for me, but it certainly is faster than I've finished that distance in a very long time. I was using the walk-break method, but I managed to keep the percentage of jogging higher than the percentage of walking.
We basically ran up a hill to the Golden Gate Bridge over the bridge and back with a little extra running in the Crissy Field area to make up the mileage.
It was windy on the bridge, but not as bad as I've experienced it in the past. There was a nice little curtain of time when the fog was gone and I was coming off the bridge just as it was fogging up again.
It should be noted that I ran in my new Brooks Addiction, which means I broke one of the cardinal rules of running which is DO NOT DO A RACE IN BRAND NEW SHOES. Once again I got away with it. I just felt that my Asics were so beat up that there was no support there and I was better off risking the new shoes.
I went to brunch with Ivan (who was kind enough to chauffeur me down to the Presidio, even though he didn't feel he was in good enough shape to do the run and my husband. Then I came home and crashed for two hours.
Today, I'm feeling pretty damn good, except for a bit of a kink in my right leg. Considering I was a bad girl and didn't stretch after, (or before for that matter) I'm pretty happy with that outcome and feeling confident I can get back to half-marathon distance by the end of August.
