Chase came to his interview prepared to dazzle Dr. House with his diagnostic skills and passion for medicine.
Instead, he found himself stunned into speechlessness by the sight of the man himself, especially those eyes. It was just as well that House didn’t seem much inclined to engage him in conversation. That’s when Chase realized that he was already being tested.
Chase leaned back in his chair to show House he was prepared to sit in silence as long as it took. He knew he’d gotten it right when House flashed the hint of a smile.
“You’ll start on Monday.”
