Summary: Larry has trouble keeping his feet on the ground.
He missed the monastery, especially his time in the kitchen.
Hours spent taking what had once been a carrot or onion and creating the basis of the night’s soup. The work required complete mindfulness to avoid ruining the harmony of each dish and his fingers in the process. Nothing about stars or quantum mechanics; just a beautifully proportioned stack of vegetables lightly sprinkled with sea salt.
It felt odd to order a meal prepared by someone else’s hands; wrong somehow. He met Megan’s eyes and she smiled understandingly. Larry nodded and looked at the menu again.
He’d get used it.
