I came to LJ and back into fandom because of House MD and specifically because of House/Wilson.
Every single one of you that I've gotten to know whether in House fandom or from any other, still goes back to House. (Yup, all the Torchwood craziness wouldn't have happened if I hadn't seen Damned If You Do and immediately started googling House/Wilson slash.)
And on to this week's episode:
Not bad. Not bad at all. Once again absolutely stunning acting by Jesse Spencer and Hugh Laurie, with Hugh looking completely engaged and the House/Chase chemistry running fast and furious.
My H/W shipping self is sorry that Hugh & Bobby don't seem able or willing to generate that feeling anymore, but my guilty-pleasure H/Chase shipping self was doing the happy dance all over town.
Every minute they were on together was totally charged and House seemed way more invested in getting Chase to genuinely forgive him than he has regarding Wilson of late. Perhaps House ALWAYS takes Wilson's forgiveness for granted because they've been locked into their pattern for so long, whereas Chase has always been more of a wild card.
I wish the plot hadn't been quite so blatantly ripped off from "Grace" and "Damned If You Do," but I was happy to see Chase finally getting to deal with those issues again, because I remember how royally PISSED I was when they did "Unfaithful" and never let Chase have one-on-one scene with the priest. It's also too bad they had to Joss so much of mine (and I'm sure lots of other folks) fanon about Chase's real reasons for leaving the seminary. Of course we can fanwank that with "Everybody Lies" and the story he told the patient was very light and facile and doesn't seem to represent what would really drive Chase away from his religious calling.
I also feel there was a bit of ret-conning going on. "Mother drank and dad worked?" NO. Mother drank and dad LEFT! Not quite the same thing.
Not sure, but I felt the direction of the scene outside Chase's apartment was deliberately reminiscent of meth-sex, with the woman "Moira," according to IMDB, being the aggressor and pulling Chase into the apartment. That definitely seems to be a pattern and I think that even when he's on the prowl, Chase lets the woman (or man, if our bisexual Chase fanon isn't totally Jossed) make the first move.
The whole thing was super soapy and there was never a doubt in my mind that she'd go through with becoming a nun, but it was well done soap and I certainly believe in sleep-around Chase way more than sleep-around Taub.
At least the Taub-House prank fest wasn't nearly as bad as the spoilers made it seem, although I also got the feeling it was cut down a lot. Am I wrong or did the scene where Taub has "Everybody Lies" written on the back of his lab coat, which was in the promo from last week, get cut out completely?
It remained super-lame and if the only pay-off was to see a long shot of some guy tackling Taub, what the hell was the point? Especially in an episode where Wilson was on screen for less than two minutes. However YAY for Wilson/Chase scene, since that's yet another guilty pleasure pairing that gets absolutely no love anymore. (lj user="kohl_rimmed_eye">, come back, we need you.)
I also go the feeling there was supposed to be more of a payoff to Chase having almost the same conversation with Park and Adams, and fobbing them of with an obviously insincere, "It's enough just knowing you're there." AND I really hated the idea of Park being all creeped out and unable to do her job. That just seems out of character and completely character de-railing.
I'm also slightly pissed at how much I've come to hate Adams. I liked her in the first few episodes, but the more we've learned about her, the more she's channeled Cameron, and not the Cameron I came to love, but the Cameron I used to hate.
What is it with Shore hiring long-haired brunettes and then doing his best to make them loathesome?
