I took one major victory from this episode: in all the talk about his “father,” House NEVER mentioned the alleged abuse from ODOR and he said he respected John House. If there was ever a time to throw the abuse, if it existed, in his mother’s face and or use it against Bell, this would have been it. Therefore: THERE WAS NO ABUSE. Everybody lies and House LIED to SRV. Told ya so!
(No. I will never let it go. If there’s one moment when this show went from something I loved to something that was always on the edge of betrayal, it was ODOR and that particular line of repugnant bullshit.)
Moving on.
I love Billy Connolly and was as good as possible in the slightly less horrible part of a badly written episode. Yay Mama House for totally playing Wilson and then Wilson feeding it to House.
The one “pure” shippy moment was Wilson acting like he and House were a couple by inviting Bell & Mom to dinner, which of course was then blown out of the water by House bringing Dominika. Still ship House/Dominika and loved the scene with the kids. Can’t believe I just wrote that sentence, but it was the only bit in the whole show where House was genuinely engaged.
I’m exceptionally annoyed with the “bad trip” scene, only because it was in fact so bad. And it really bugs when the show does things badly that they used to do well. Such as LSD. Remember House’s trip in “Distractions?” That represented a familiarity with how acid affects people in the real world, as opposed Park’s ludicrous visions, which were like something out of a late 60’s cop show. Absolute crap.
But wait, speaking of crap….every single thing in the patient of the week plot was abysmal. Yeah, a break. Like Ross and Rachel. Does anyone in the non-television universe actually say that? Each line of dialogue between patient and doctors and especially patient and girlfriend was like the worst soap opera ever written. You could guess each line about five seconds before it was spoken.
Don’t even get me started on that ending. When did this show start cheating on its unhappy endings. He can hear her? Suddenly. Really? BULLSHITBULLSHITBULLSHIT
Tell me again why Adams can call the patient a “dick” but everybody still has to say “ass” instead of “asshole.”
Meanwhile…the ending ending. House’s mom is/was a slut. Am I suppose to be amused by Wilson saying that? By Wilson being House-like? By House putting his mother and Bell through that crap without having proof? I’m not. Is he now going to let them believe this to be the truth? Or will the whole thing go to Island of The Lost Plot Points?
Chase looked yummy and Taub was negligible. That’s something. Adams was channeling Cameron in Fidelity. Why Adams, why?
We’ll be back in a month for the FINAL COUNTDOWN.
See you then.
