In other words the whole thing is a massive, festering clusterfuck. Frequent flyer numbers no longer register, contract discounts aren't being acknowledged, hold times on the phone are in excess of one hour, and emails to the (hahah) "Solutions Desk" are being answered in 48 hours, IF YOU'RE LUCKY!
On top of that the Law Firm has a Partner Offsite retreat happening this weekend, for which we were instructed to book the cheapest fares possible, which we all know are NONREFUNDABLE. Now of course some of the most special snowflakes are insisting on making last minute changes to their NONREFUNDABLE tickets, which is going to end up costing the Law Firm more money than if they'd taken unrestricted fares in the first place. And of course if we need any upgrades or special assistance for these clients, we won't be able to get it (see hold times in excess of one hour.)
Naturally my co-worker is off this week. I can't begrudge him that. He certainly deserves time off and because he has less seniority than I do, it's harder to find available dates. But right now I could kill him for not being here. Connie is with me, but this is literally her last week here. After two years as a floater, following the demise of a VERY BIG LAW FIRM, during which the Travel Agency failed to hire her back as a permanent employee with actual benefits, she has found her self a real job with real benefits and is out of here after Wednesday.
She's doing her best under horrendous circumstances, but it's not like she's necessarily going to drive herself too crazy fixing any of this shit. After all, what are we going to do, FIRE HER?
