J/I Shippers-YOU CAN STILL TURN BACK (Really, I tried to curtail the hatred. I failed. Miserably.)
OK, I warned you. (Shrug. Sigh.)
Another "subtle" message from RTD and company. WAR. IS. BAD. Although apparently not WWII. I'm not disagreeing and I was actually thrilled with Tosh's line about the Iraq not exactly being a war, but I'm nursing a concussion from being hit over the head with the theme.
Also one suspects that WWII gets to be "beautiful" because Jack looks so damn good in the outfit and there's awesome music. Whereas WWI is kind of icky looking and doughboys aren't as hot as RAF men.
There is a lot of CJH rehashing including Gwen in an abandoned building seeing ghosts. Plus the talk of "duty" and being a hero.
Does anyone have a link to the song from the Tosh getting dressed scene and the ending? I really loved it. In fact that montage made me all kinds of happy. One of the best combos of moood/music/image I've seen in a long time and I'm sick of them on most of the procedurals I watch. (CSI-NY, I'm looking at you and cringing.)
However, what the hell did Noako Mori do to deserve that particular dress? OK, it makes us look at her boobs, which are very nice, but the color and style are hideous and the jeans don't do much for that look either. She doesn't seem to have taken Gwen's "What Not To Wear" advice, although I don't think she tucked the jeans in this time. This is a gorgeous woman and looked fabulous in everything but the dress itself.
Tommy was sweet and adorable. Loved the overhead shot down into the chamber.
"So what have you been up to?" Oh nothing much. Shagged an alien, nearly got stuck in WWII, the usual.
Jack's ARMS!!!! I realize the man is pretty much nothing but a collection of amazing body parts, but this week belongs to the fore-arms. (Can we send him to PPTH to have a Foosball game with Wilson? It would be total fore-arm porn?)
On the other hand Tosh rules and isn't really a victim. YAY.
And how is Owen not made of awesome here? Light blue shirt? Yummy. Doing his protective thing about Tosh? YAY! Saving the day? Whoooo-hoooo. Come here baby. Let me give you a kiss and a quick feel up that nice chest of yours.
Tommy/Tosh sex scene. Apparently everyone on this show has to do the photogenic hands to the face kiss. Maybe JB is giving lessons. And I did like the little pelvic move. Very sex.
And on to-----OH PLEASE----OK J/I schmooopers....Have your little happy dance or whatever it is you people do. (Eye-roll, sigh, shrug, look at watch, a la Gwen, who apparently thinks her bracelet can tell time.) Are we done yet? A little more? Fine. Now go change your pants (UK meaning) and listen up.
KRE-You might to avert your lovely Kohl-Rimmed Orbs:
WARNING-VITRIOLIC SPEW AHEAD
IANTO JONES IS TOTALLY ALLISON CAMERON!
Jack's having a nice broody moment about war and time and the Doctor when Ianto pops in from the darkness and now it's all about him including a total repeat of the "Are you going back to him?" from KKBB. That's one insecure boy, if this is really supposed to be twoo wuv. Please don't leave me. Share your soul. Let me kiss you to keep you from going away from me. Spine? HAH! His whiney, self-indulgent ass hasn't changed one bit since we heard his little emo-boy whining in Greeks Bearing Gifts. Seriously. And the slurping. FEH.
Hey, John Barrowman? I love you more than life itself and I'm glad you had fun with the scene, think it's a breakthrough, WHATEVER. You still kissed Christopher Eccleston, Billie Piper, the girl in Shark Attack 3, and, OH YEAH, Matt Rippy with a helluva lot more conviction than that piece of dreck.
End vitriolic spew.
Ahhhhh. that's better. Remind me to re-read "Clouds In My Coffee" a few hundred more times.
Gratuitous Gwen non-hating ahead
Gwen is Wilson.
OK, I realize the point of the scene was exposition, but that was Gwen in Jack's office, playing with the box while Jack did the dimples thing, looked down her blouse and had a few nice eye-sex bits. Also...Gwen sits in Jack's chair. YEAH BABY. Hey, if there were a Jack/Anybody but Ianto pairing on-screen besides Jack/Gwen for me to take all this emotion to, believe me I would. I want to slash-ship this show. I'm convinced that Ianto is still a second choice to the Doctor and I still stand by my interpretation of the timing of the date-asking scene.
And the extremely adorable banter about the frozen soldier and nobody's perfect. As other people have pointed out, definite allusion to Some Like It Hot. "Hands off, Missy. Toshiko saw him first." With just one smidge more camp in John's voice it would have been pretty obvious who the gay couple on this show really is.
My next piece of canon-subversion fic is gonna be a doozy.
OK, the coast is clear.
Loved the ending. Tosh/Owen sweetness and Tosh walking alone. Again the director/cinematographer were awesome with the wet Cardiff shots. It reminded me of the end of the David O' Selznick verstion of A Farewell To Arms with Rock Hudson walking in the rain. OK, maybe I'm way too much of a film geek, but considering the theme of War. Is. Bad and WWI was REALLY. BAD, maybe not.
So what happens to the
