Legal

I just had an eye exam.

I am now officially one of those people who needs reading glasses. (As in a prescription that's different from my regular distance glasses.) This would also apply to time spent on the computer. The nice lady eye doctor said this is a normal part of the aging process, but I'm pretty sure the fact that I've spent the last 3 years pretty much glued to a lap-top for LJ purposes didn't help either.

Let's figure out how someone who can screw up birth control pills, and is at any given moment in a tizzy over keys, ATM, fast pass, gym card and glasses as it is, is going to contend with one pair for reading, computer etc and a different pair for movies, tv and just being outside.

This is not good. On the other hand, presumably being able to see the computer at work a bit more clearly MIGHT knock down the number of snafus that occur on it.

Welcome Back Pimp Post

The Drabble Challenge at ppth_support this week is "Daddy's Boy." If you've got a Mom & Dad House fic up your sleeve, or something about any other supporting or guest character from that episode...bring it on, or do a little drabble for the challenge.

*****

Here's some wacky, cracky, and slightly different recs for you this week:

Once in a Blue Moon by hllangel
Pairing: Academia/Fandom
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 301
Summary: Normally, Academia beats Fandom senseless. But once in a blue moon, Fandom pushes Academia against a brick wall and drops to his knees.

Awesomely insane crack!

*****

Untitled Minor Character fic written by haldane for ppth_support.

It's a fic with everybody's favorite dominatrix, Annette Raines. Also House, Chase, humor and even a bit of sweetness.

*****

Catechism by saphron_girl.
Fandom: Becket/The Lion in Winter
Pairing: Richard/Philip, Henry/Thomas
Rating: G

Historical and literary canon-slash (canon at least on the Richard/Philip side), with oodles of angst. Beautifully done.

*****

If You Will Not Have Me, You May let Me Go by paperclipbitch

More literary slash. Hamlet slash no less, featuring Horatio and Fortinbras with Horatio/Laertes backstory. And to make it even more ...whatever it is...it's written back-wards, Memento style.

Freakishly brilliant.

And one from The Chelsea Drugstore Vaults... Someone's Got To Do It
Dirty Jobs fic written for mmom 2007.
Mike checks out a very dirty job. It still makes me giggle every time I read it.

Reading glasses update.

These things are awesome, and I'm definitely seeing an improvement when I look at the computer.
The scary part was the first time I went into the hall wearing them and all of a sudden I got the visual equivalent of a "Wah-wah!" sound.

I'm a little worried about which to wear when I'm watching TV AND working on the lap-top, but thinking it's the reading glasses because I'm still more focused on the computer.

And an excuse...as if I needed one...to use the glasses-porn icon.

Happy House night everybody!
