What State Should You Live In?

Ganked from tourmaline1973

I am ONLY posting this for the LULZ because I think we now have a winner for "Least Applicable Meme Result EVER!"

You Should Live in Georgia
If you don't want to live in Georgia, you might also consider:

Me, not contributing to the dialogue.

There's a fairly serious discussion about fic warnings making its way across the vast world of Fandom right now.

You can read a lot of it, including links to pertinent stories and essays HERE.

The issue has taken a very sharp turn from being an abstract thing about individual taste and squicks to a fairly heavy discussion of "triggers" for sexual abuse survivors and others who've suffered trauma and what responsibility for those triggers individual authors have in terms of making their warnings explicit.

The dialogue has sparked individuals on my F-list and elsewhere to share their thoughts on the matter and in some cases just ask more question. I know it's spreading throughout the internet and manifesting itself differently in various fandoms. (There was a discussion in a Who-comm about one specific Rose/Nine fic and what did or did not constitute rape, which I don't think had much to do with the warnings and triggers issue, but which clearly was -ahem- triggered by the posts.) If you see (or write) a post on the matter, feel free to link me, cause I'd like to follow the story as it develops.

I have opinions. For the time being, I'm going to keep them to myself as far as the big, wide fannish world is concerned. I know this sounds unlike me, because I'm pretty outspoken on some issues that are tangential to this discussion. (OWEN IS NOT A RAPIST!)

This is just not a pile that I feel inclined to jump into right now, although I reserve the right to do so at a later time.

I will take the opportunity to re-pimp the omni_fiction community, which does not require specific warnings for any individual squick, kink, activity etc, although it doesn't ban them either. The system is pretty basic: Green/Yellow/Red. If someone clicks a red story, I think they can readily expect it to contain something that somebody might consider disturbing, and make choices accordingly. So if you have written an adult story in ANY FANDOM, and feel it might not be appropriate for your usual fic-coms, but also would prefer not to spell out every detail, please consider joining and posting.
(Only newsworthy because the guy's been missing for four days and because he's one of those Republicans who greatly enjoys playing the "family values" card and telling us that Democrats don't have any.)

I cannot wait to get home tonight and see what Keith/Rachel/Jon/Stephen are going to do to this guy.

Song Lyric Prompt-a-Day 2009 day 176

Prompts can be used for any fandom, pairing, or even original fic, if you like. (Yes, any.) All I ask is that you credit me with providing the prompt and comment with a link to the entry.

Prompt #176

The beast in me
Has had to learn to live with pain
And how to shelter from the rain
And in the twinkling of an eye
Might have to be restrained
