Company Time

Back at the gym this morning

First time in about two weeks. I'm going to TRY and keep it up for the next week, even if the food is in the dumpster. It's a bitch to get to the gym with a food hangover, but it's worse NOT to go and let the situation deteriorate. Any recommendations for exercises with the stability ball or BOSU would be greatly appreciated.

Fun at the Mint last night. Chris Dilley is in town. He's got a show at the RRRazz Room on Friday, so he and David O. and that whole gang was there. We had about two good hours and then the crazies who'd been up in the park drinking all day after Bay to Breakers started showing up. They were fun crazy...I danced with Superwoman for a while, but it meant the rotation was getting really long, so I did the duet that Jim and I had up and got out.

Song list-Sunset Boulevard, Artificial Flowers, This Could Be The Start of Something Big-duet with Jim.

Phone call with regional manager today. Blah blah blah blah blah.

We did finish watching Slings & Arrows on Saturday. So now I've seen all of that and all of Due South. Still thinking crossover for Halloween.

Are you ready for some pimping?

mmom, The Merry Month of Masturbation is half way over. I'm going to hold off on pimping any specific fics until the month is over. There is however, fabulous stuff being posted in multiple fandoms. I strongly suggest that if you're not currently following the Comm, you at least take a look at the Fandom Tags and see if anything appeals to you. (Note to my Torchwood peeps, there's been some great real!Jack fics, feel free to ignore the pod-person crapola.)

Due South/Torchwood

As I've mentioned in a few posts, hubby and I went through all four seasons of Due South in the course of about three or four months total, maybe more. Anyway, I then discovered that always awesome donutsweeper had written a series of fics, mostly ficlets and drabbles, crossing over Our Favorite Mountie (and sometimes Our Favorite Dead Mountie) with the one and only Captain Jack Harkness. Mostly sweet, sometimes a hint of fluff, but definitely a very good rendering of real!Jack dealing with a very good man and taking on (temporarily) some of his better qualities, but NEVER ceasing to be himself.

I recommend them all. Tagged HERE!

Life On Mars/Torchwood

Bird and Bullets by laurab1

Another cross-over gem. Gene Hunt brings in a certain Captain to give his officers some "weapons training."

Life On Mars

NOT mmom, but a wank-party unto itself was held by the lovely candesgirl, where severinne wrote some smoking, sad, sensual wank!fic, featuring my favorite puppy-dog, Chris Skelton, as he thinks about Sam & Gene.

Go. Now. Read. Give love.

Sherlock Holmes

These Things Were Promises by paperclipbitch.

I have finally finished reading this and can now rec it in full and good conscience having made the whole journey myself. It's a doozy. It's epic. 6 Parts. Bazillion words, every one a gem. Angst. Angst. MORE ANGST. A bit of smut. A "happy" ending, but still the possibility of more angst. If you only read one "Downey-verse" movie Holmes fic, it must be this one. Yes, it will take a chunk of time out of your life, but it will make you glad you did. (Unless it just makes you depressed about not being able to write as well as PCB, but that's my neurosis.) Seriously though...look at the comments. It's not just a fic; it's a work of art!

Dr. Who

{and swallow fireflies} by paperclipbitch.

THIS is the Amy Pond fic you've been waiting to read since the first pictures and spoilers came out, even if you didn't know. Comes complete with sexy artwork, song-links and a picture-perfect real!Jack cameo.

Ironman II

Change the Channel by filthgoblin KNOW you want to read some Tony/JARVIS smut, right? Well step right up, cause here it is.

zekkass wrote some Joolsfic for me. Perfectly in-character. DO NOT MESS WITH JOOLS! You will lose.

House MD

Since it's House Day and the Finale to boot, two fics from one of my new favorite writers...yasibaba.

Life Like Clockwork
House/Wilson (death fic, House goes on after Wilson's gone. absolutely devastating.)

And one for you Kutner fans out there:
The Eleventh Hour
More darkness, for obvious reasons, but if you like Kutner, I think you'll enjoy this one. It really tries to get inside his head just before the events of Simple Explanation

Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn't like but ended up loving

Due South

It started with This fic by akuni at last year's Come As You're Not party.

I read and commented, even though I'd never seen the show. It was a good "first time" fic, which I tend to like, even if I don't know the characters, but mostly I was taken with the character of Diefenbaker. As some of you know, I really, really like dogs, and Dief is a half wolf/half dog and even from the story, I could tell he was awesome. (Assuming I wasn't due to be once again disappointed by a character being more awesome in fic than on the screen.)

When I commented to the story, I got encouragement to watch the series from love_jackianto. I like to joke that even people who are clearly at very different sides of a ship-war can bond over a cute dog.

I went in with some trepidation. After reading up on the show, I really thought it was going to be way too cloying for my taste, and too much built on the "fish out of water" humor.

It took awhile to get the discs on my Netflix queue, but once I did...yeah. I fell in love. With Dief. With Benton. With RayV. With Huey and Dewey and Louis. With Welsh. With Frasier's dad and Buck Frobisher. Even with Meg and Turnbull.(Not so much with Frannie or Ray K, but I don't LOATHE THEM) With the whole "Touched By A Canadian" magical realism combination of comedy and cop show.

I really do love the whole thing. I was somewhat spoiled for the "Darrin switch" of the Rays and while I don't consider myself a ship warrior there, I will say that I'm not a big RayK fan and that I think the slashy energy is all on the Benton/RayV side, but I have no interest in fighting with or convincing anybody else. I just really love the show, and would like to get my own copy of the DVDs so I can re-watch some of my favorite bits.

I've also, nearly simultaneously fallen in love with Slings & Arrows, which recently got shown in Marathon over a few weeks on Ovation. It took about ten episodes (over a season) before I could deal with the actor who'd played Benton being unkempt, cursing etc. It had a very kinky thrill, I gotta tell you.

So really, the question is: Paul Gross, where have you been all my life?

House babble for Help Me

Online House Party attended by hllangel, michelleann68 and evil_elf. Possibly the last one ever. I think it's time for the four of us to check into rehab and find a way to quit this show. This is just beyond Jumping the Shark. I can't even describe what just happened.

I don't know if I'm done with this show. I just know I want to be.
