30 Days of Writing Questions-Day 8

Here's the list
8. What's your favorite genre to write? To read?
For fanfic, the answer is the same, angst-smut or smut-angst. I don't mind a touch of humor and H/C is always welcome, but the two things I can not abide are fluff or schmoop in any combination. I cannot think of a pairing in any fandom, where I'd want to read that, even pairings that I consider "fluff" pairings in terms of a possible happy ending within their fandoms. I just have no interest in it and for most of the pairings I am interested in, I think it's a total violation of the characters.
For original fiction, I've basically staked my claim as a mystery writer, so it's the genre I tend to fall back on. As for reading, it's hard to say because since I started reading fanfic again on a regular basis, I don't think I've really read any fiction longer than the stories in the New Yorker and those don't tend to fall into genres. For pleasure I read nonfiction, and those tend to be a mixture of scholarly and humorous, such as Malcolm Gladwell's books and AJ Jacobs'. I WAS going to try and read John Barrowman's latest book and Renegade by Richard Wolfe on my trip to the UK, but we know that's not happening this year.
