Title: Ten Thousand Miles
Fandom: Torchwood
Characters: Mostly Jack with hints of Jack/Gwen
Wordcount: 100
Notes: Written for tw100 Challenge 165-Photo Prompt. Slightly AU for Post-CoE. Not quite crack, but kind of a weird one. Unbeta-ed
Summary: Jack surveys the aftermath.

Where have you been my blue eyed son?Collapse )
Doubling down with two questions that sort of over-lap and lead me to some rambling about keeping a marriage together when at least one of you is nuts. (And do NOT get all up in my grill about being UN-PC about mental illness. If I want to refer to myself as a raving nutcase, that my business.)

From our birthday gal, strawberrytatoo : How would you say your relationship has changed over those 20 years? Hobbies you've started/given up on together? Things you used to fight about, and now you laugh over how silly it was?

And from rozerood : How do you keep the love in your marriage alive? Did your feelings change, in which way?

Rambling and schmoop aheadCollapse )

Day 03 - A song that makes you sad

Mr. Bojangles

Sammy Davis Jr.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

The lyrics to this always made me sad, especially the way Sammy sang it, although I think it was supposed to be more uplifting than depressing. The whole thing about "see son, I drinks a bit" used to really bother me. Now, the song also reminds me of Rachel Jordan, who used to sing it at the Mint, and who died nearly ten years ago. If any one else sings it, Daddy Dave will give me a look and I know we're both thinking of Rachel.

If you've never seen Sammy in action during his hey-day, it's worth a look. He was one of the great entertainers of all time.

This is the version that Rachel did.
