I'm a travel agent, not an entomologist

This just came in from HEADQUARTERS:

Bedbug Information

As a reminder to everyone, we are a travel management company and are not in a position to offer our clients advice about where and how they should or should not travel in connection with the bedbug infestations. We are not the proper authority for public health recommendations/updates for our clients.

While we may decide to send out communications on the outbreak to our clients, it will not be in the form of daily or weekly updates. If any of our employees are asked by clients what we are recommending, the answer is: we recommend clients getting the latest updates from public health organizations such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) or the World Health Organization (WHO) so clients can make an informed decision.

Please do not offer any advice or suggestions on this topic to anyone outside our company unless it has been approved in advance by your manager.

I am DYING to know who did or said what that caused the need for this directive.
