Welcome to the Police State!

First of all apologies to anyone who is actually living in a police state or thinks I shouldn't be slinging the words around when real police states still exist. I live in the wonderful City By The Bay, which is generally the farthest thing from a police state.

HOWEVER...I was on Muni this AM, the 22 Fillmore to be exact and at Church and Market two Municipal Fare Inspectors boarded the bus and asked everyone to produce their proof of payment. One girl in the back row was unable to do so and they actually took her ID and wrote her up at her stop on Haight St. Then it happened again at Geary St. Two more Inspectors, show your proof etc.

OK, I get that if you're on the bus and you didn't pay, you're technically breaking the law...but COME ON! Things happen. And my personal feeling as an acolyte of both Saul Alinsky and Abbie Hoffman is that once you're past the driver, you should be home free.

Also, just as a practical matter, what if you get on the bus, pay your fare in cash and choose not to take a transfer, which is the only form of proof if you're not using a Clipper Card or Fast Pass? How the hell can you prove you paid?

I've never seen this before and I was genuine shocked and appalled, although no one else seemed to think there was anything unusual about this. Perhaps it just shows how rarely I'm aboard a muni bus, but man it pissed me off.

Excuse while I crank up "Fight The Power" and genuflect to my poster of Che Guevara.

What Should You Do On New Year's Eve Meme

Ganked from nakeisha.

Was there ever any doubt?

You Should Stay Home for New Year's Eve

By the time New Year's Eve comes around, you are usually exhausted. You just need to rest.

That doesn't mean you won't celebrate, but you'll definitely be toasting the new year in your own low key way.

You'll reflect on the year that's passed and make plans for the year to come.

And when the clock turns over at midnight, you'll be cheering along with anyone else. You'll just be in your pj's!

30 Days of House MD Meme

Meme of Doom ganked from cuddyclothes and chocolate_frapp.

Here are the questions

Day 30 - Anything House related

YOU GUYS! The people I found when I googled House/Wilson Slash and ended up on LJ. The people whose fics I read and who inspired me to get back to writing fanfiction. The people who've read my fics and commented. All My Betas, but most especially my beloved beta_goddess. The people I'm still in contact with on a daily basis and the ones who have left the fandom or LJ all together. The ones who share my views on the show and characters and the ones who have unfriended me for various reasons. Anybody who I've known in House Fandom over these last five years and the person/writer I've become because of knowing you.

Whatever you want to say (or scream) about the show as it is now, it still gave me this fandom and you folks. For that, I'll always be grateful.
