Happiness takes so very long to find.Collapse )
I hate the way my brain works. Or more important, the way it sometimes doesn’t.
Flight from Newark to Edinburgh, me in the center seat AGAIN, but the pitch seemed a little better the movies were free and there was more air being pumped in. Unfortunately even with a Trazodone and Benedryl combo, sleep proved elusive. It’s virtually impossible to achieve any degree of comfort in those seats, so it was another six hours of being not really asleep or awake and completely stiff and kinked up by the end. They woke us up with tepid croissants and no hot towels.

As we were filling out our landing, I did something I hadn’t thought to do before we left. I took a good look at my passport and realized that our passports were going to expire on May 7 and we were supposed to be the UK until May 14th. I immediately decided that they weren’t going to let us unto the country. I was also really embarrassed. This is one of those things I always remind my clients of, “do you have a valid passport and is it valid for at least 6 months past the date of travel?” And it never, ever occurred to me to check my own…which I knew damn well I got for a trip to London and Ireland in 2001. Major fucking panic attack ensued, compounded by sudden, creeping fear that I’d also managed to forget my birth control pills.

By the time we landed (smoothly, praise Allah) I was a gibbering, quivering mess.
