RIP Lou Reed

Lou Reed, Rock ’n’ Roll Pioneer, Dies at 71

I saw him in concert in the early 80's (around the time New Sensations came out). The concert was being filmed for an MTV special about rock influences and it also featured Jim Carroll who died earlier this year and Run DMC, half of which is also in Rock n Roll Heaven.

I went through a heavy-duty LOU phase, when I totally romanticized the whole Lou/Velvets/Eydie/Warhol factory scene. Considering the life he lived, it's amazing he made it this long, but it's still sad to see him go.
