San Francisco is having money problems. The Mayor has to make some budget cuts. One of the places they are cutting is the city-funded medical detox that Mr. Karaokegal works at. If these cuts go through they will be laying off nurses, and probably closing an entire floor of the facilities. Hubby is seriously pissed. Much as we have loved Mayor Gav in the past, he is not happy and is going to the public hearing today where the budget cuts are being debated.
I wished him luck and told him to say "hi" to Chris Daly for me, but I doubt this is going to change anything. As far as we know, it's not Hubby's job on the line, but his fellow nurses and also the availability of care to some very desperate people.
Hubby has called to advise that he didn't even have to speak because before the meeting started word came down that the facility had gotten their money back. Therefore he was able to enjoy the weddings going on all over City Hall.
Dr. Who spoilers/rumors/casting etc.
And my usual EEEEEEVIL take on things.
In case you haven't heard:
From the Radio Times magazine -
""Huge events are in store for Donna. The returning companions have incredible status - as the finale swings into action, we've got Rose, with her ability to stride parallel worlds, alongside Captain Jack and his Torchwood team, plus Martha with the military might of UNIT behind her, and Sarah-Jane with her alien-busting career - and yet it's still Donna at the heart of events. The ordinary human!""
Gareth David-Lloyd has also just confirmed this on his official website. -
"As confirmed in this week's Radio Times by Russell T Davies, the Torchwood team will appear in the finale of this season's Doctor Who. Gareth had a blast filming this, so we hope you enjoy watching it."" :)
Despite whatever kind of a "blast," GDL, might have had filming, I find it really interesting that pictures of John on the DW set leaked months ago, but nothing of GDL and Eve. At this point, I'm interpreting the "Team" to be the surviving (ahem) threesome.
Since we also have confirmation of Sarah Jane and Martha Micky and Rose, I think it would be very unlikely for any heavy-duty involvement to unfold. My best guess some variation on the End of Days to Utopia transition. i.e. Jack in the hub
The extremely eeeeevil person in me would so love to see exactly how gutted Ianto could look as Jack goes running to his Doctor, but regardless, I just don't see Ianto or Gwen having a major part in it. For one thing John can't keep his mouth shut and when David Tennant and Catherine Tate came over to be interviewed on Radio One when John was hosting, all either of them said was that "the TARDIS gets crowded," which I take to mean Doctor/Donna/Rose/Martha/Mickey.
Obviously I could be dead wrong about all this, but it seems like a helluva lot to be squeezing in especially when you're going to have the Doctor and Rose which (sorry Rose-haters) is really the BIG STORY, although I'm desperate to see some Rose/Jack interaction regarding the whole "You made me immortal" thing. Plus I'm dying for either Jack/Donna or Jack/Sarah Jane flirting because (as I do my sand-box foot stomping) I WANT OMNI JACK, even if it's just the reminder that he does flirt with everyone and everything. Luckily he does seem to do that whenever the pod person is allowed to escape RTD's Mary Sue dreams.
