When I spotted one, I ran across the street, only to find that it had passengers in it. I kind of freaked out and ragged on the driver and the passenger like it was their fault. I was super stressed and crazed from a day at the hospital and schlepping the laptop in a bad part of Oakland. OK-I'm a snob. I think all of Oakland is a bad part.
So I keep walking toward the BART station which isn't actually that far away. (I gave some homeless people money for telling me exactly where it was.) Just as I'm within viewing distance, the cab that I'd yelled at, comes pulling up and offers to drive me all the way back to the city. I told him I'd give him $20.00, even though I think he was offering for free. (Twenty is considerably less than a metered ride would cost.)
We had a nice chat. His name is Eduardo and he's from Peru, so we discussed politics, violence etc, as well as the perils of motorcycles. I got home after 11:00PM very hungry and treated myself to dinner at Sparky's. Meat loaf. Yum.
Meanwhile---back at the hospital, hubby is still in a lot of pain. He's getting more meds, but he's having trouble being comfortable for any amount of time. I'm starting to freak out about how long the recovery is going to take and where it's going to happen etc.
I realize I'm more focused on my own petty bull-shit than him, but there's not much more I can tell anybody right now.
Coming tomorrow: Halloween Party Invitation. (I don't want it to get lost in the holiday/weekend vortex.)
