Hubby mentioned that there was an anniversary coming up, but he was talking about 9/11. Then I realized it was September and we worked out that yesterday was the 6th and that meant, yes ladies and gentlebeings, EIGHTEEN FABULOUS YEARS!!!
Which we celebrated at the Lawton Healthcare Center, with hubby in a wheelchair as we sat out on the front porch watching the world go by.
I gotta say, things are much, much better. That wheelchair I just mentioned? He can get himself in and out of it and push himself around with the good foot. He can move the leg in ways that were impossibly painful just a few days ago. His mood is much improved. Thanks to everyone who called or visited. I love you all.
toddyboi...massive amounts of hugs and kisses.
Being there during the day gave me a much more positive view of the place. I got to see hubby wheeling himself around, talking to people, flirting with the old ladies etc. There's a nice dining room with a piano and some birdies in a cage. I haven't seen the back porch yet, but that seems to be good too.
We still have a long way to go, but I can feel the emotional tide turning.
Also, the heat wave is breaking. It was hot enough to run this AM in no sleeves and lots of sunblock, but there's a massive fog-bank rolling in from the ocean and this afternoon I should back in my leather jacket.
I'm bringing up his mandolin today as well as the big massager. Tonight I'm going to spend some time with Ivan. He's going to cook for me and I'm going to introduce him to the wonder of QI. Being a history geek and anglophile, I think he'll love it as much as I do.
Six miles this AM. Not as much as I'd like to be doing right now, but considering the circumstances...not bad.
There was a near riot here a few minutes ago when the internet connection cut out and suddenly everyone was twitching from withdrawal symptoms.
I owe lots of you story comments and a few of you beta notes. I'm working on all of that. Ditto meme responses. If I haven't commented on individual posts....sorry. It's just getting a little away from me right now.
P.S. My new favorite British usage-"Go off on one."
