Quick shallow note: RSL is looking pretty good, EXCEPT the shot of him leaving Cuddy's office did his torso and stomach no favors whatsoever.
One of the continuing debates about watching House MD is the question as to whether it's a
The House/Wilson stuff was truly amazing. Obviously we can never get back to Season 1/2 but given what they had to incorporate, I think they MOSTLY skirted the fanservice problem. The last scene felt very fanficcy (especially the bit about the "games and binges" but the acting was so good, I was willing to take it, especially because it didn't give any hope for fluff or schmoop. Not that I think they are "broken" as some have said, but the cute factor is out of the picture for any forseeable future.
The dynamic was an interesting mixture of Son of Coma Guy and Words & Deeds. The first apology was close to "I don't want to push this until it breaks," and the early scenes had that bitter edge of "Nothing's changed."
When Robert Sean Leonard screws up his face, does the almost cry and the adolescent voice-break, it's infinitely MORE powerful than the out and out weeping of Amber's death. The House/Wilson love that will NEVER have a happy ending is alive and well.
I know it was a throwaway line, but I was especially interested in the Tea & Sympathy reference. I'm convinced that the writers were using that as a nod to the slash fans simply because of the place the play has in pop culture zeitgeist, even though theoretically the play is about NOT being gay. It still has gay connotations and is as much a shout out to the idea of H/W as a Village People reference.
The only really annoying "fanservice" bit was the couples counseling, or at least Cuddy's use of the phrase, however Cuddy Rocks for getting at least one of her balls back long enough to blackmail both of them.
Speaking of annoying: SHUT THE FUCK UP 13. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU. NOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOU OR YOUR HUNTINGTONS. PERIOD.
I did like the patient, at least what we got of her, but she seemed liked left-over bits of Carly from Control and Soap Opera Actor from last years episode the title of which I can't remember. Yay to TPTB for reasserting their pro-choice roots.
How happy was I that they haven't changed the credits? No newbies in the credits means there's still hope they can disappear. Because exactly WHAT did they contribute to the week, aside from reinspiring my 13 Hate. Still only a mild irritant compared to my Ianto!hate. That's how insignificant they are.
Cam & Chase both had good moments. Foreman being trapped among the Newbies is the Kiss Of Death. I definitely liked the Cam/Wilson scene. Cameron as the voice of reason. Whodathunkit?
