Watch him take on the seething mass of bull-shit that is Sarah Palin:
I finally watched John Barrowman's new video: What About Us?
The Barrowman gorgeousness is mind-boggling, especially the jacket/rain combo, but I could live without the "story-line" stuff and I'm deeply conflicted about the song itself. I know it's important for him to break out of the "West End" stereotype and appeal to the broader spectrum of music fans with something contemporary, but I'm not sure taking the TARDIS to 1992 is the best way to do that. I actually love the drum machines and the double tracking and the big sound, but there's a disconnect between that and John's natural affinity for the great stage numbers. When you've done Cole Porter and Sondheim and even ALW, there's something slightly....is demeaning too strong a word...about doing this kind of thing.
The upcoming album has a seriously schizophrenic track listing. Sure I want to hear John sing You Don't Have To Say You Love Me and Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, along with the show-tunes, but From A Distance? REALLY, JOHN? From A Distance.
I think I'll watch the doggies some more.
I haven't seen Heroes yet. I crashed and burned pretty early last night after some killer Indian food from Maharajah. I'll watch tonight and babble tomorrow. No House tonight, but there IS another McCain/Obama debate.
Bringing those two topics together...sort of...our featured episode this week at ppth_support is Role Model. If you're interested in writing a fic, about an inspirational African-American Senator who happens to be running for President, either for the Drabble Challenge or a longer piece, this is definitely your chance.
