Please keep in mind that I may have been slightly fucked up on Nyquil and I've only watched once and was extremely rudely interrupted because of some election coverage. Which was bullshit because I'd been watching CNN and already knew we'd won the house, which was great, but I didn't care about the house; I wanted the House! Some of these ideas are stolen/borrowed from Beta Goddess Carol who squeeee-mailed with me while I was watching.
Extremely schizophrenic episode. I get that House was so caught up in the situation with Tritter that he wasn't paying attention, but what was the writer's excuse?
POTW-I really felt like it was a deja vu for "Heavy" right down to Chase's antipathy. (Maybe the makeup guys had some latex left over and told the writers.) Also-what's up with Chase disappearing half-way through and never coming back? Did Jesse need time off to do a movie of the week or something?
Clinic patient-Not even worth House's time or snark and the snark wasn't that good. Where's cow guy when I need him?
Spiny-Echidna-Cam-Last week, awesome, this week, WTF??? The aliens have brought back Wilson, but I think they've abducted Cameron. Dosing the patient, fine, although it's a replay of "Deception" but telling the patient he's got terminal cancer without even a chin wobble? Have these people never seen "Acceptance" or "Maternity"? Helllooooooo!!!!! If they're trying to show that she's matured, they failed dismally. Even her standing up to Cuddy didn't see very zingy.
House/Cam het-threat-I'm now willing to re-assess my opinion as to whether House/Cam or Wilson/Cuddy is the bigger het-threat to THE BOYS living happily ever after. David Shore's hard-on for House/Cam is alive and well. The fact that H/W were discussing her, no matter how disparagingly is a bad sign.
House/Wilson-slash-o-meter Not exactly off the scales. NOT INCLUDING THE LAST SCENES. Even the bail-out seemed very season one. The slashiest moment in that scene was the almost-mechanical pill hand-over, which actually screamed "enabler" more than "lover".
I know I'm asking for trouble but for most of the episode I felt that RSL was sort of phoning it in i.e. either deliberately under-playing or just not very invested in what was going on. Even the salad scene felt a bit flat.
Tritter I wasn't a St. Elsewhere watcher and I've never seen "The Long Kiss Goodnight", but I gotta tell you, this guy rocks. Obviously this is what the writers are actually interested in right now and it shows, plus his acting is notching everybody else up. All the House/Tricker scenes, absolutely prickled with tension and you could tell that HL and David Morse were giving it their all. As you know, there's already a burgeoning House/Tritter fandom and the tension that was humming between them in this episode was off the charts. This character is everything that Vogler should have been and never really was, although I still think the cross-cutting in the Baba O'reilly scene is one of the most brilliant things ever put on television.
Wilson/Tritter-last scene OMG. Sorry, Bobby. If you were saving it up for that scene it was well worth it. Both actors were flawless, playing both the words and the ever changing subtext brilliantly. Wilson's face showing his realization, sense of betrayal and instinctive defense of House were flawless. Morse did a lot with little bits of business. You could see a whole new world of fanfics aborning. Was I the only one who thought that the shot of Wilson's back was sort of reminiscent of the famous picture of JFK in his office from the back? OK, I'm nuts. Fine.
HOWEVER...Where the hell is Wilson living? Last week it looked like the Motel 6 and now it's like a suite at the Century Plaza? Get this man his own, consistent apartment set. Or let him move back in with House, but make up your fucking minds. And please put out an APB on Chase. I'm worried.
Coma guy wakes up and it's John Laroquette? I'm not sure if that's a squeeeeee or not. Some celebrity patients work better than others. Also thank you promo people for giving away the whole plot, unless it's a fake out.
