Considering how little training I was able to do in the last two months, it was actually one of my best half-marathons. Aside from freezing my ass off for an hour waiting for it to start, things went really smoothly. This was a massive event with 20,000 people the back of the pack was substantial. I had a good a carbo-load last night and a good night sleep. I had all my stuff set up and I woke up before the alarms went off.
For those who don't know, my system is to put my Ipod on shuffle and alternate power-walking and running by song. I stick to this religiously no matter the length of the song or the terrain I'm on when it comes up. Which means I had to run up a hill to ALL of Nights In White Satin and down a hill to the long version of Finally.
Hey,
The weather stayed cool the whole way, but thank god there was no rain. I even lucked out and got a cab home from the Great Highway.
And to top my day off, I ordered some Karaoke discs to do songs that the Mint still doesn't have...I think I'm going to be quite a hit doing my Master-inspired rendition of I Can't Decide by Scissor Sisters.
