THE AIRLINES ARE MISERABLE FUCKING BASTARDS!
American Airlines has announced a very significant policy change regarding the attempted refund of non-refundable tickets.
Effective September 1, anyone who submits an AA non-refundable ticket for refund will incur a debit memo for the entire cost of the ticket. (the previous penalty was $200.00.)
It is very likely that the other carriers will shortly follow suit and begin imposing similar penalties. More than ever, it is critical that you check the fare rules very carefully before submitting any ticket to be refunded. If you have any doubts as to whether or not a fare is refundable, you should always confirm with the carrier directly before submitting the ticket for refund.
