I was never that big a Patrick Swayze fan. Most of his Iconic roles didn't do much for me, or the movies themselves just didn't have that much of an impact in my life. I think my favorite moment of his was the Saturday Night Live bit with Chris Farley. You know the one I mean.
And we've watching him die for over a year now. For a while there every time I went to a movie at the Westfield Centre, and got there for that whole thing where they promo TV shows and show commericials, there'd be the stuff for that cop show thing he was doing and all I could think every time was, WOW...You're dying and you look it, but it's cool that you're still out there working.
But Jim Carroll....dude...Jim Carroll...I actually saw him once at a concert in Passaic, NJ. It was a VH1 Rock Influences Show with Lou Reed, The Chantals, Run DMC (before anybody in my neck of the woods knew who they were) and Jim Carroll. It was an amazing show, and I was very impressed. At some point, I had a mix tape with People Who Died and I played that thing to (ahem) death.
Both of them so young. Patrick Swayze 57. Jim Carroll 60. OUCH!
Jody Powell-65-Heart attack...(This is getting scary...time for me to cut down on the red meat again and focus on the exercise.)
Since I was a young political geek, in the late 70's, Jody Powell was probably the first Presidential Press Secretary I was really aware of, and he always seemed like a really nice guy, especially over the years when I'd seen him on C-Span forums about the presidency.
I feel bad for Jimmy Carter who's lost so many family members and now has lost another good and dear friend.
I know these things go in threes (unless it's a flurry like the post Michael Jackson week) but damn that's a quick set.
