Even yours truly is not going to get all cynical and analytical about a Disney movie. It was fun. The animation was pretty. The music was very good in the way it used Jazz, Cajun music, Zydeco, Gospel etc. Yay African American Princess. Maybe a bit of "Oh really?" for what would appear to be a completely, happily integrated New Orleans in the mid 30's, but hey it's a fantasy. There was exactly one line that could be interpreted as anything vaguely racial. Loved the Cajun fireflies and the trumpet-playing crocodile and any movie that uses Keith David as one of the voices is ahead of the game. It was really nice spending some time with Frank and NOT being home watching the coverage from Massachusetts. Tonight I have my Barrowmania converts coming over for the concert DVD, which will again give me a reason NOT to watch Keith and Rachel et al. Too painful for at least the next few days.
