Fabian Cancellara wins the Tour of Flanders!
I hadn't really realized that the Cycling season was starting up again, so it was fun to be taken by surprise and watch a bit of Tour of Flanders yesterday. The bad news is Lance is still among us sucking up insane amounts of attention, but I like the one-day races better and Lance is pretty much using those as warm-ups for TDF, so for awhile he's not the main focus.
Next week is Paris-Roubaix which is pretty much my favorite. COBBLESTONES, BABY!
2 Dead, Aftershocks Continue After 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake
7.2!!! That's a Loma Prieta size shaker, so it's amazing more people weren't hurt. Trust me, a quake is scary, but I sort of consider it my "dues" for living in California, as much as paying our insane cost of living. And when the roll is called of the various natural disasters one can go through, I'd still take an earthquake over hurricane, tornado, blizzard etc. Of course I can say that from the comfort zone of living in a 1st world country where generally the worst that happens is things falling down. Although sometimes that some "something" is the Bay Bridge. I guess I'd just rather be shaken and stirred than rained on, frozen, or blown away.
