My love for this show is hanging on by a thread and it feels like TPTB are doing everything possible to kill it.
It was hard enough to care about Open Marriage lady especially when she was first scene shtupping Pony Tail Guy. I don't care about the bod. Pony Tails are big no no for me on guys. EWWWWWWWWW!!!!
So this episode was basically one big soap opera. I'd be surprised if actual patient/diagnostic time amounted to a total of 15 minutes.
Let's dispense with the Taub stuff by saying: I don't care. I DON'T CARE!!!! I DON'T CARE
I DON'T FUCKING CARE!!!
I don't care who Taub flirts with. I don't care who he fucks. I don't care about his whiney, passive-aggressive wife. The one thing, I'd actually like Taub to do is come up with one good bit of snark per episode and as long as they're making HIM the center of a dramatic plot (that I don't care about) it's not happening.
But here's what really bugs me. They're trying to make Taub into what Wilson used to be. The guy who "loves" his wife AND still ends up cheating on her. That was 1st and 2nd season Wilson.
In the meantime, Wilson is being castrated.
I'm supposed to believe that his marriage broke up because he's Felix Unger? Yes, he's a bit fastidious compared to House, but he's never been a prissy, OCD, big girl's blouse about it. We've seen him and House be slobbishly guy-like together.
My current Paranoid Bitching of a Paranoid Bitch theory is that Wilson is being white-washed. We're supposed to forget about Debbie From Accounting and all the other affairs. I like Cynthia Watros and I have to believe that if they wanted me to believe in the amount of sexual chemistry that Wilson should be having with her, they'd be directing it and RSL would be acting it, but they're not. I don't know if it's because RSL doesn't have his 1st/2nd season looks anymore, or if they're just trying to make him some kind of martyr or if this is part of fanservicing the H/W fluffbunnies. But it's not like Peter Jacobsen is Mr. Hottie.
And if this is supposed to fanservice the fluffbunnies, I'd say it's a pretty dismal failure. In fact, it's totally MY House and Wilson. House is jealous. (They even dropped a big giant anvil of House saying "Men are programmed to be jealous.") He does something to break them up....and instead of a fluffy H/W on the couch scene, what do we get? Wilson won't get dinner with him and House is clearly in pain over it. Hugh Laurie works the pain eyes something fierce. They even get back together, and he's clearly hurting over it.
Note to Wilson---If you want to be with your girlfriend, either move in with her or throw House out of the condo. (I'm actually hoping that will happen by the end of the season. Then House can go home and have the relapse he's so obviously moving towards.)
Note to "writers" (by which I mean "crack-monkeys") giving House and Cuddy one scene where House mentions oral sex, does not in any way convince me that House wants Cuddy in an episode where House is passionately, obsessively, jealous of Wilson and doing everything possible to get Wilson for himself.
Hugh's beard is noticeably coming in white at the sides.
Nice Chase/13 scene, except for that big falling anvil about "Who ever is taking care of me." I've heard rumors they're going to go there. Foreman is really getting left out in the cold in terms of plot and dialogue. He didn't even get to sit at the table during the differential.
WHITE BOARD!!! And Chase gets to use the markers. He's moving up in the world. Plus Jesse looking hot.
I LOVED that my angsty hurting each other H/W were complete validated. I hated that so much time was wasted on Taub and that what could have been an interesting medical plot was completely shunted aside for the OMG OPEN-MARRIAGE SHOCKING!!!! crap. Like I said, it was much better in Season 2, when it was Clueless and it was actually an interesting plot. Which may have had a reflection in Wilson's situation with his wife, but wasn't all that anvillicious.
Unlike this crap. (They couldn't even work the epiphany into the plot. Making it a complete fluke makes House look pathetic.)
So score: Kgal's H/W-1
Plot, characterization, continuity, writing, wit, humor, fun, enjoyablity: NADA
