Summary: Jack learns his place in Torchwood





It didn’t take long after formally casting his lot with Torchwood for Jack to realise that he was less than a full member of the organisation, yet by no means a free agent.

He was lying in bed with Alice and Emily, when he noticed Emily absently stroking his hair, as one might the family dog’s

“That’s it, then,” he asked, with a smirk, "I’m Torchwood’s pet?”

Emily shrugged and Alice sighed, but neither of them chose to deny his words.

Jack settled back into their embrace, content, at least for the time being.

After all, a pet is loved.
