I could almost just leave it there....WOW!!!
Oh alright, a bit more.
I feel like this is the Christopher Nolan mind-fuck extravaganza I've been waiting for him to make since Memento, which is pretty much my favorite mind-fuck film ever. (It also makes me very happy he had to make Memento on a much smaller budget.)
Cracks me up that that "wake-up" music is Edith Piaf singing Non, je ne regrette rien, considering that the actress who plays Mal, won the Academy Award for playing Piaf a few years ago. According to IMDB, it's a total coincidence and they were actually considering changing it, but didn't.
Poor Leo, still pretty much has his baby-face, but is somehow also looking his age, so that he seemed too young to be married to Marion Cotillard, but it would have been creepy if they’d gone anywhere with him and Ellen Page.
Great cast…always happy to see Michael Caine. Tom Hardy is all the yummy, English accented testosterone my f-list has recently been swooning about. I would have liked the uptight, suity guy more, if I hadn’t suspected certain people were acquainting him with another uptight suity character, and that’s just sad. I should be able to enjoy uptight, suity characters without having them ruined by the horrors of you know who. On the other hand…HOLY SHIT…THAT WAS TOM BERRENGER???!!! Oh honey….not aging well at all. Nice work and all, but … sheesh. (Hey, I had a big crush on him circa The Big Chill and Someone To Watch Over Me.) Also good job by Cillian Murphy. (Wanted to cuddle him a bit.)
Loved the effects, especially the scene where Cobb is “testing” Ariadne and she does the cool stuff with the mirrors and the scene with suity guy and the impossible stair-case.
I think the snow-fort scene went on a bit long and it was really hard to keep track of what was going on since everyone was wearing the same outfit and riding similar vehicles. That’s one place where I felt it was like….hey, we’ve got the money, let’s spend it on some CGI snow!
Great catharsis ending, suspense, relief and yes, the big FINAL MIND FUCK!!!
Fucking brilliant. Go see it.
