The gym has been very full lately. I don't know if it's the out-of-towners getting ready for the locals or vice versa. I've definitely seen some of the Mint regulars getting very friendly with the new kids in town.
Tomorrow is Pride Saturday. The Dyke March takes off at 7:00PM 18th and Dolores, basically two blocks from my front door. The Dyke March is very adamant about being non-sponsored and grass roots as opposed to the big parade and celebration on Sunday which is so commercial it's scary. (If you've ever heard the Kinsey Sicks sing a little ditty called "Buy My Pride" to the tune of "By My Side" from Godspell, you'll get the idea.)
On the other hand, you can argue that getting to that point of acceptance is preferable to the bullshit that still goes on all over the world and right here in the good old U S of A---
Those who read the NY/Boston trip report will remember my friend Regina. Mother of seven, recently out lesbian etc etc.
She emailed me yesterday, her oldest daughter is getting married tomorrow and doesn't want her there, simply because of who she is. Originally she didn't even want Regina to know it was happening at all, but now she knows when and where and that she's not welcome.
I could smack this brat.
